What do badminton, basketball and nightclubs have in common?
Well now, thanks to the company ASB they’re all essentially some LEDs. The company has developed a glass floor designed for indoor sports events. LEDs embedded under the surface can be programmed to illuminate the marking lines of any indoor court sport. The surface also employs sensor technologies that can detect a ball or player that has gone out of bounds.
The glass surface itself is surprisingly similar to traditional wood floors. The glass was treated with special chemicals to add grip and elasticity, ensuring that there is no difference in mechanics of the game.
And the company doesn’t see this product staying isolated in sports arenas. The capability of the floor to display essentially any variety of colors and shapes allows it to be used for public functions, dinners, or yes, of course, a club’s dance floor.
